leanne-sluggyhorn:
Leanne sat on the couch while she watched Bronwyn crawling around on the floor. She had just started crawling about a week before but she hadn’t stopped since except to eat and sleep. Leanne wanted to get down on her hands and knees to crawl with her daughter but her stomach was getting too big and it hung uncomfortably every time she tried. Stupid fat stomach with her stupid fetus that really wasn’t stupid at all. She sighed and rubbed circles around her belly. “You’re starting to get in the way of fun things, little baby,” she said. “Soon you’ll be so big I won’t even be able to walk.” It was sort of true, too. Towards the end of her pregnancy with Bronwyn, she’d had a lot of trouble walking around and Bronwyn was small due to a lack of natal care in the beginning. This new baby had been taken care of since the moment Leanne found out she was pregnant and it was already almost twice the size Bronwyn was when she was the same length into the pregnancy. She pouted. She definitely was not built to carry a baby around for nine months.
Bronwyn crawled over to Leanne and then sat back on her bum. She stared up at her mom with big grey eyes. “Hi, there,” Leanne said with a smile. “Dadda,” Bronwyn replied. It was still the only word she knew. Leanne bent to pick her up. “Dadda will be home soon! Then we’ll go shopping. Sound good?” Bronwyn gurgled and giggled, little spit bubbles forming at the corners of her mouth. “You’re yucky,” Leanne told her. She wiped the spit from the babies lips and smiled. “No more yucky!”
Horace had spent his morning teaching whiny little magical college students as he always did on days such as this. He was happy that the term would be ending soon and all those whiny little brats that he was forced to teach would be gone away for the summer. He was also excited because he knew that with every passing day, he was closer and closer to being a father once again. His excitement however, did not cover up the fact that he was bloody terrified. He hadn’t been around a lot for Chase when he was a baby, not because he didn’t want to be, but because he wasn’t allowed to be. So Horace never really did get the chance to father his own child straight from birth. But of course he had been there for Leanne when Bronwyn was born and Draco was nowhere to be found. He had literally seen the tiny baby pop right out of his mother, but now it was just the slightest bit different. That was his little baby popping out of his tiny little wife, and he wondered if it’d feel any different as well.
He hurried home though, not wanting to waste precious time with his cute little family. Soon they’d be a family of 5, which was exciting, and yet again terrifying, seeing as how he was going to have to provide for another hungry mouth, especially with Leanne on maternity leave from her shop. Horace smiled as he walked in the door and called out for them. “I’m home! I want food!” he said, throwing his stuff down on the bench by the front door and walking in a few steps. “And my gorgeous wife and little runts but I mean…food first.” he said with a laugh, walking into the living room and seeing Leanne sitting with her growing belly and Bronwyn.
